Walking on the Schovenhorst Estate

The Schovenhorst estate borders two beautiful primeval forests: the Putterbos and the Speulderbos. The old village center of Putten is also within walking distance.

Dancing trees
The Putterbos and the adjacent Speulderbos are among the oldest forests in the Netherlands. In these varied primeval forests, nature is allowed to take its course, beautiful! The deeper you walk into the forest, the quieter it becomes. In the Speulderbos, the crooked oak and beech trunks in particular appeal to the imagination. They make the most wonderful turns, on a foggy day they quickly look like dancing nymphs.

Historical Putten
In Putten you pass Mill't Hert from 1899. It is the third mill on this site: its two predecessors burned out. In the Dorpsstraat you will pass some beautiful monuments, such as the former butcher's shop from 1917 with the beautiful stepped gable. The fifteenth-century village church is also worth a visit. There is plenty to do at the Schovenhorst Estate after your route. You can also enjoy a delicious meal at Brasserie Schovenhorst.

Schovenhorst estate
The Schovenhorst estate has existed since 1848. Since its inception, the estate has been extensively experimented with various tree species, so that you can admire some special monumental specimens in the arboretum.
