Walking at beautiful Mheer

In the countryside it is lovely to walk along meadows, fields and high-stemmed orchards. The route also takes you across the border, into the Voerstreek. Here you walk through the Hoogbos, a beautiful oak-birch forest. Every now and then you have to climb over the steep slopes, but the views are a nice reward. Mheer was once declared one of the ten most beautiful villages in the Netherlands. And not without reason. You will see beautiful monumental half-timbered houses, such as on the Steegstraat. You will also pass the seventeenth-century Sint-Lambertus church. Behind this is the fourteenth-century Kasteel van Mheer, which has been in the possession of the same noble family since 1668. A lovely village to stroll through. On the cozy terrace of Café Quanten you can enjoy coffee and pie.
