Beringen mine slag heap
The Beringen mine slag heap is a living memory of Limburg's coal mining past. What used to be a waste mountain of piled stones is now a hill where bushes and open spaces alternate. A special place. From the 100 meter high slag heap you have a beautiful view of the surroundings. Then you drive into the Valley of the Zwarte Beek: a beautiful nature reserve with a wide variety of plants and trees. Limburg Kempen
Just before Heusden-Zolder you pass the second mine slag heap. The former black gold has been forged into a green diamond in recent years.
