Enjoy the Green Heart near Zoetermeer

In the countryside surrounding Zoetermeer, cycling through the open polder landscape of the Groene Hart is fantastic. Here you'll find beautiful old villages, charming windmills, and a surprising amount of tranquility.

Gouwebos
From the Hollevoeter Bridge, built centuries ago (and often restored), you can take a brief look across the Rotte, an old peat river. Further on, in the village of Moerkapelle, you'll see the monumental village church, originally dating from 1662. You'll also cycle through the Gouwebos, a small urban forest near Waddinxveen where alders, birches, and poplars grow in the watery open fields.

Picturesque Weipoort
Above Boskoop, you'll cycle through the former peat polders. Here you can enjoy the fresh air and the characteristic Dutch landscape. You'll see the Rietveldse Molen, a polder mill dating from 1648. In Hazerswoude-Dorp, you can admire the beautiful village church dating from 1646. From the Weipoortseweg, it's a pleasant ride along the Weipoortse Vliet and the many magnificent 17th-century farms that dot the Weipoort hamlet.
