A tour of Pelt

Pelt is a friendly village in Belgian Limburg. It's easy to explore by bike. This route takes you through the village center and the surrounding countryside.

Dommel Valley
There's no shortage of nature in the Limburg Kempen region. West of Pelt, you cycle through the Hobos, a unique, small-scale landscape with rows of trees, wooded edges, avenue plantings, hedges, and orchards. Hidden on this estate is the authentic home of bailiff Clercx, the exterminator of the infamous Bokkerijders gangs. In the Dommel Valley, you'll pass the Wedelse Molen. According to some sources, this is the oldest watermill in the Benelux. It's said to have stood here as early as the eighth century. So be sure to take a look.

Old Pelt
In the hamlets surrounding Pelt, you'll see some striking buildings, churches, and old farmhouses. You'll also cycle through Neerpelt, a neighboring village bisected by the Bocholt-Herentals Canal. You'll re-enter Pelt along a former railway line. It's a pleasant way to cycle along the leafy path. The old village center boasts beautiful historical sights and excellent cafés and restaurants where you can relax for a well-deserved snack and a drink.
