Visiting Borculo

Extensive nature reserves may be missing on this route, but there is plenty of natural beauty to experience in this region. You drive through a wonderfully quiet scenic landscape of meandering streams, hedgerows and forests. You will also pass the wooded Westerflier Estate. At Café Restaurant Baan you can enjoy a drink and a snack. The route also takes you through Gelselaar, a charming esdorp village that enjoys a protected village view. Just outside the village you pass Erve Brooks Niehof, a national monument. This museum farm dates from 1538 and is open for viewing every day. The small-scale collection consists of old radios and televisions, old-fashioned costumes and objects that tell a story about whaling in the East Netherlands, the Borculo estate and textile history.
