Tour of Vinkeveen and Breukelen

This route takes you through the peat landscape between Vinkeveen and Breukelen. From the cycle path, you'll enjoy expansive views over a watery landscape. You'll see perfectly straight plots of land with monumental farmhouses and grazing cows. Cultural history is also plentiful. You'll pass the Veenmolen (vee mill) dating from 1823, for example. A little later, you'll have a beautiful view of the Vinkeveense Plassen lakes. And on the other side of the water, you'll pass the 13th-century Loenersloot Castle. From the towpath along the Vecht River, you'll see how humans have created their own little paradise on earth with country estates and orchards. You'll pass through the picturesque Nieuwersluis, a former fortified village. So make sure to fully charge your camera battery!
