Tour of Utrechtse Heuvelrug from Amersfoort

Your route starts at Leerhotel Het Klooster. In Amersfoort, the fifteenth-century Onze Lieve Vrouwetoren is literally the biggest eye-catcher with its almost 100 meters. It is nice to warm up in the grasslands and stream valleys of the Gelderse Vallei. In the distance you can see the forests of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug looming on the horizon: a mighty sight. On the edge of this national park you drive through the Tuindorp Maarn, built in 1921, the part of Maarn that enjoys a special village view. You will find the only completely intact garden village there; for that reason the garden village may be included on the World Heritage List. On the Utrechtse Heuvelrug you drive many kilometers through natural beauty, past conifers, old stately beech avenues, heath fields and majestic villas. It is wonderful to cycle through this rolling landscape!
