Description

Dwingelderveld National Park guarantees a wonderful excursion into nature. In the middle of the vast heathland, you'll find yourself on the Benderse Berg, one of the quietest places in the Netherlands. From here, you'll have a magnificent view. Here you'll find the Oasis: a settlement of trees, fields, and a small farmhouse established centuries ago by small farmers. Author Anne de Vries lived in the cottage for a while; his book "The Man in the Hunting Lodge" is set here. If you leave early, you can cycle from junction 57 to the Ruiner sheepfold near the visitor center. The flock departs for the heath at 10:00 AM during the season—a truly memorable experience. In Lhee and Dwingeloo, time seems to have stood still; you'll see beautiful, historic farmhouses.
