Het Dwingelderveld National Park guarantees a wonderful excursion through nature. Although the route is relatively short, you will free up a lot of time to fully enjoy the extensive forests, heathlands and peat bogs.
Benderse Berg In the middle of the large heathland you stand on the Benderse Berg, one of the quietest places in the Netherlands. You have a beautiful view here. The Oasis is located here: a settlement of trees, fields and a small farm, set up centuries ago by small farmers. Writer Anne de Vries lived in the house for a while. His book 'The Man in the Hunting Lodge' is set here.
Ruiner sheepfold If you leave early, you can cycle from junction 57 to the Ruiner sheepfold near the visitor center. From May to October 1, the flock of sheep leaves for the heath at 10 a.m., a true experience. Time seems to have stood still in Lhee, you will see beautiful monumental farms. The village green in Dwingeloo enjoys a protected village view, including the striking St Nicholas Church.
