Description
Set off in Westfriesland and get to know this agricultural area full of long ribbon villages that is enclosed by the West Frisian Omringdijk, the only monumental dike in the world. A wonderful area to discover by bike.
Keep your eyes peeled on the road
On this route you can enjoy an ever-changing landscape with tulip fields, meadows full of sheep, typical Dutch windmills, numerous bird species and authentic farmhouses. On top of the dike, along the IJsselmeer, you can be enchanted by a view that reaches to the end of the horizon. Also take a look at the water sports enthusiasts with their sailing yachts, surfboards or kiteboards on the water. If you are lucky you can spot a three-master of the brown fleet making the crossing over the water, a majestic sight.
