Southeast of Epen lies one of the most beautiful landscapes in the Netherlands. You walk through the Cottessen nature reserve, the Geuldal and the Vijlenerbos. A beautiful walk!

Five star landscape
Cottessen was cultivated from the Bellet square farm, which has been here since the thirteenth century. The steep hills made the area difficult to access for agriculture, so you walk through a centuries-old small-scale cultural landscape of sunken roads, standard orchards and monumental half-timbered farms. It seems as if time has stood still here. A feeling that is enhanced when you walk through the Geuldal with its flowery meadows and babbling river.

Vijlenerbos
After a climb you pass the Rozenhof campsite and restaurant, time for a terrace! In the Vijlenerbos you mainly walk between oaks, birches and beeches. It is wonderfully fresh and quiet here. In the middle of the forest you can gain strength with something tasty at Boscafé't Hijgend Hert. When you walk out of the forest again, you have a beautiful view of Cottessen and the Geuldal behind it.
