Walking through the most beautiful landscape of Limburg

Southeast of Epen lies one of the most beautiful landscapes of the Netherlands. You walk through nature reserve Cottessen, the Geuldal and the Vijlenerbos. A beautiful walk!

Five star landscape
Cottessen was brought into cultivation from the Bellet square farm that has been here since the thirteenth century. The steep hills made the area difficult to access for agriculture, so you walk through a centuries-old small-scale cultural landscape of sunken roads, high-stem orchards and monumental half-timbered farms. It seems as if time has stood still here. A feeling that is reinforced when you walk through the Geuldal with its flowery meadows and babbling river.

Filer forest
After a short climb you pass Camping and restaurant Rozenhof, time for a drink on the terrace! In the Vijlenerbos you mainly walk between oaks, birches and beeches. It is wonderfully fresh and quiet here. In the middle of the forest you can regain your strength at Boscafé't Hijgend Hert with something tasty. When you walk out of the forest again, you have a beautiful view of Cottessen and the Geuldal behind it.
