Walking over Twente essen

Around Vasse you can walk carefree through the typical Twente ash landscape. You will find two historical sights here: the Mast mill and the cemetery on the Vasserheide.

Ashes and streams
The route takes you through a gently rolling landscape where fields on the ash alternate with groves and stream valleys with flowery meadows. Everywhere you experience that surprisingly pleasant Twente tranquility. You will hardly have any trouble covering the kilometers here. And otherwise there is always a nice spot to catch your breath while admiring an old characteristic farm.

Vasserheide
You walk through the forests of the Vasserheide. It can be deafeningly quiet here. A fitting rest, because a little later you walk across a field with burial mounds from the period 4000 to 2500 BC. The landscape suddenly looks just as old. De Mast is a fifteenth-century overcast water mill on the Vasserbeek. It is named after miller Jan Mast who bought it in 1811.
