Description
Stage 8 of the Fietserspad is already the penultimate stage of the Fietserspad. This route takes you from Venlo to Montfort, right along the German border. Along the way you will get to know beautiful nature reserves, interesting sights and authentic Limburg pictures.
Up the hill, down the hill
Get on your bike in Venlo and head for the German border. This route takes you along the border with our eastern neighbors for the most part. After about 9 kilometers you can take a break at Oelespot Restaurant if you are ready for a rest with a cup of coffee. Then you cycle along Belfeld and Reuver while you cycle up and down hills in this rolling landscape. Limburg is not known for its hilly landscape for nothing.
Castle splendor
On the way to Roermond you will pass two beautiful castles: Hillenraad Castle and Zuidewijk Castle. Especially the first castle is a real gem. A little outside Roermond you can settle down at Boerderijterras and Camping het Spikkerdal, but you can also cycle on to Montfort.
Feast your eyes on this
In the last part of the route you will pass one sight after another. What do you think of Kasteel Freymersen, the Molen van Verbeek or Huize Hoosden? All these sights tell you something about the rich history of Limburg. Just outside Montfort is a place where archaeologists have buried Roman coins and a little further on you will find Montfort Castle. In short, there is plenty to see on this route.
