Description
The fifth stage of the Cycling Path takes you from the nature reserve near Almen to the hamlet of Vethuizen. Along the way you can enjoy both nature and culture with quiet green areas, vast forests and historical sights that are definitely worth seeing. The Fietserspad is a variant of the well-known Pieterpad , but for cyclists instead of walkers. This stage takes you along parts 13, 14 and 15 of the Pieterpad.
Castles in Vorden
The first part of this route takes you through quiet forests and past extensive agricultural areas to Vorden. This village is known as the 'castle village' with no fewer than eight castles in and around the village. Then you cycle further to Linde and Zelhem. Along the way you cycle past Molen Ons Belang. This mill was built in 1890 as a replacement for a mill that was destroyed by fire.

Museum Smedekinck
After a bike ride through the green landscape of the Achterhoek you arrive in Zelhem. Here you will find, among other things, the Lamberti Church. On the outskirts of Zelhem you can take a look at the Smedekinck museum. Here you can view old agricultural implements and farming tools that were used in the early 20th century.
The last bit
Then you cycle further to Gaanderen via the Slangenburg estate. The estate covers approximately 600 hectares and on this estate you will find Slangenburg Castle and the Sint-Willibrordus Abbey of the Benedictine order. The last part of the route takes you along the edge of Doetinchem towards Eetcafe de Holle bus.
