Tour of Nijverdal and Rijssen

Your route starts at Esch Camping Kaampert. From here you cycle to Holten at the foot of the Holterberg, which measures 59.5 metres at its highest point. Take a break at the top at Natuurdiorama Holterberg to catch your breath after the climb! Holten borders the Sallandse Heuvelrug and you will be in the national park in no time. The forests here were planted to prevent sand drifts and form a nice contrast with the heathlands. Above Rijssen you cycle along the Regge for a while. Here you experience a completely different landscape. Many goods used to be transported via this river. From the sixteenth to the nineteenth century, zompen, boats with a flat bottom that could even sail in very shallow water, sailed here.
