Description
The cycle route starts at TOP Stellendam and passes three towers: the water tower in the village of Melissant, the lighthouse of the seaside resort of Ouddorp and the stately cathedral tower from 1500 in picturesque Goedereede. It used to serve as a beacon for navigators. The picturesque town of Goedereede was an important trading place with ramparts in the Middle Ages. The name Goedereede means\\"safe anchorage\\\\". Much of the former glory can still be found today in the old patrician houses and the former official residence of Pope Adrianus (Hotel de Gouden Leeuw). Stellendam still has a fishing fleet and you can taste the world famous Stellendam shrimp here. Seals can also be admired here in seal sanctuary A Seal.
