From Raalte to the IJsseldelta

From Raalte you can take a beautiful bike ride along the IJssel. A route with lots of Salland's natural beauty, estates and beautiful old villages.

Beautiful Salland
It seems as if the Salland landscape was created especially for cyclists. Here you cycle through a mosaic of streams, forest plots, meadows and croplands. You will have no trouble racking up miles here. Cycling along the IJssel is also great. You will pass through the Duursche Waarden, among other things. There is a lookout tower at the former brick factory on Fortmonderweg. A little further on you will pass the bird-rich Buitenwaarden and Tichelgaten.

Lie pump
In the village center of Wijhe you will pass the fourteenth-century Nicholas Church. You will also pass the Wijhese Mill from 1703, the oldest octagonal tower mill in Overijssel. In Windesheim you can see the very special village church from 1565. In the center of Heino is the Leugenpomp. According to an old legend, the pump only gives water to people with a clear conscience.

Overijssel estates
On your route you will pass two estates: Windesheim and the Colckhof. There was once a manor on Windesheim that originally dated from 1600. On October 20, 1944, the house was destroyed by incendiary bombs. Only a ruin remains of the old manor. The rest of the country estate, such as the beautiful houses and the unique landscape park, was preserved. The Colckhof is a wooded country estate from the eighteenth century. The country house dates from 1850.
