In the area around Bergen op Zoom you will find natural beauty, water and historical monuments. This route takes you past various highlights of Bergen op Zoom and the Brabantse Wal. Enjoy the many monuments and the remains of old fortifications in the city center and then explore the countryside of Bergen op Zoom.

Straight through the woods
The starting point of this route is at VVV Brabantse Wal in the beautiful center of Bergen op Zoom. From here you set course in the direction of Woensdrecht through the beautiful nature reserves that lie here. You cycle past Lievensberg and Mattemburgh, two estates with allure. You can also visit the Visitor Center Nature Podium and the Kraaijenberg along the way to learn more about the nature in this region.

Cycling along the Markiezaatsmeer
After a wonderful trip through the wooded area you arrive at the Markiezaatsmeer. This is the largest wetland area in the Netherlands after the Wadden Sea and the IJsselmeer. Hundreds of thousands of migratory birds land here every year. Before you cycle onto the Markiezaatskade, you pass the Kreekrak locks. Climb the observation tower you will find here and enjoy a beautiful view over the water. Then you cycle back to the center of Bergen op Zoom.

Historic Bergen op Zoom
At the end of the route you can take a detour through Bergen op Zoom to enjoy all the beauty that can be found here, such as the Markiezenhof. Narrow streets, cozy squares with numerous restaurants and terraces and historical monuments full of memories of the city's rich and eventful past, you will find it all here. You can also find all kinds of delicious regional products in this area.
