Description
Stellendam is the youngest village on the island of Goeree-Overflakkee. Here, in the outer harbor of the fishing village, you can enjoy a beautiful view of the Haringvlietdam with the Haringvliet locks. These locks regulate the water level between the North Sea and the mouth of the Haringvliet. They are also known as "the crane of Europe". Stellendam still has a fishing fleet and you can taste the world famous Stellendam shrimps here. You can also admire the seals in the A Seal seal sanctuary.
Tip 1: De Kwade Hoek nature reserve
The nature reserve De Kwade Hoek, located outside the dike, is part of the Duinen van Goeree. Especially in winter, salt water flows far into the area via channels and creeks. Wind, water and tide constantly move the landscape. The area used to be called'the Kwuizen corner\\\' because of the treacherous currents and sandbanks off the coast.

Part of Middelharnis is a protected villagescape. There are also dozens of national monuments in the area. A great time to take a break!
