Description

Your route starts at Hotel-Café-Restaurant-Snackbar Beerzeveld. Beerzerveld was created at the time of nineteenth-century peat extraction. The fuel extracted here was used by the Twente textile industry. It is immediately nice and quiet to walk here. Further on you walk through the Beerze nature reserve with its coniferous forests, drifting sand plains and juniper bushes. Beerze Estate is located in the heart of the area. You also pass through the beautiful old Beerze, a town with a protected village view. At Vechtdal Hooglanders you can take a break and buy something tasty in the farm shop, the Highlanders are beautiful animals to see. You continue walking through the forest and along the Vecht. The Hut Mariaborch shows you some history about Mariënberg. You walk back along the Mariënberg-Vecht Canal and the bank of the Almelo-De Haandrik Canal.
