Cycling through Bergen, Alkmaar and Egmond aan den Hoef

Hop on your bike and discover the gems of Bergen, Alkmaar, and Egmond aan den Hoef. Shortly after getting on, you will see the first sight on your left: the Ruïnekerk (Ruined Church) from 1597. Cycling along the Hoornse Vaart, you pass four monumental windmills from 1630. To your left, you look out over the Oudorperhout, a unique meadow area right in the city. In the heart of Alkmaar, you can enjoy the rich cultural history and a delicious lunch on the cozy terrace of MOJO'S Eatertainment. Further along, you ride past the Molen van Piet, a grain mill dating from 1769. Just before Heiloo, you can take a look at the Preekstoel (Pulpit). In Egmond aan den Hoef, you pass the former Egmond Castle, which was demolished in 1798. The fifteenth-century castle chapel, however, still stands proudly.
