Description
Get on your bike and discover the pearls of Alkmaar, Bergen, Egmond and Heiloo. It will be a journey along small and large discoveries from the past and present. From the historic city center of Alkmaar to a beautiful artists' village on the coast. From a monastery - with its own beer - to a castle ruin and a beautiful museum. The route is 43 kilometers long.
Nijenburg Estate
The cultural cycle route starts at Alkmaar Central Station. Via the pleasant center of Alkmaar with its beautiful squares, canals and monuments you cycle over the stately Nijenburg estate to Heiloo, where a real pilgrimage chapel is located. The tour then heads towards the coast. You cycle successively through the three Egmonds. The lovely seaside resort of Egmond aan Zee is of course a wonderful place to relax, but the other Egmonds also have their own treasures. In Egmond-inside you will find the Egmonder Abbey (the special abbey beer Sancti Adalberti is available in the abbey shop) and in Egmond aan den Hoef a castle chapel and castle ruins.
Museum Kranenburgh
You cycle through a beautiful dune area to the artists' village of Bergen, where you can admire art from the Bergen School in the Kranenburgh Museum. From Bergen it is only a few kilometers to the starting point of Alkmaar, where you can relax on the many cozy terraces. To get back to your car (parking lot), after bicycle junction 50, follow the road towards junction 74. Have a safe journey back.
