This route takes you from Groningen to the Drenthe village of Zuidlaren on the third stage of the Pieterpad. Along the way you walk along the town of Haren, but also along the edge of the National Landscape Drentsche Aa nature reserve.
You start your walk in the historic center of Groningen. Then you will explore the Drenthe landscape. In this region you will find the stream system of the Drentsche Aa with flowery meadows along the water, large quiet heaths with sheep and ancient dolmens. You can take a look at Hunebed G01, Hunebed D03 and Hunebed D04 along the way. You will also pass Molen De Helper on the edge of the Paterswoldsemeer. This mill was built in 1863 and in 1971 the mill was moved to its current location.
This route is part of the Pieterpad, a long-distance hiking trail (LAW 9) that runs from Pieterburen to Sint-Pietersberg in Limburg. The path consists of 26 stages that together cover about 492 kilometers. You can choose to walk several stages in succession, but of course you don't have to.
