Enjoy Amersfoort and its surroundings

In the old centre of Amersfoort there is plenty of cultural history to discover. In the rural area polders and forests alternate. A wonderful moment to switch off and enjoy the peace.

Spakenburg harbour
Spakenburg is a former fishing village on the Zuiderzee. You cycle along the old harbour, which enjoys a protected village view. At the Oude Schans you pass the monumental former fish smokehouse from 1877. The building houses a museum. In the old Bunschoten you can also see some beautiful buildings, such as the monumental Eemlandia, a former dairy factory from 1918.

Soester Church Neighborhood
Soest originated as a ribbon village on a spur of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug, the Soester Eng. At the foot of this is the old church from 1350. The area around the church is truly a picture, it is not for nothing that it is considered a protected village view.

Imperial city Amersfoort
Besides being cozy, Amersfoort is also rich in history. The many monuments, streets and canals reflect the city's medieval history. The famous Amersfoortse Kei, a boulder, can be found on the corner of the Stadsring and the Arnhemsestraat. The fifteenth-century Onze Lieve Vrouwetoren is literally the biggest eye-catcher. At 98 meters, it is the third highest church tower in the Netherlands. The accompanying church was lost in an explosion in 1787.
