Description
Just outside Meppel you can take a lovely walk through the Reestdal. In this ancient cultural landscape you can easily imagine yourself in an open air museum.
The Reestdal
The Reest is a peat stream that forms part of the border between Overijssel and Drenthe. The valley around this meandering stream is a wonderful place to walk. You walk through a landscape where hayfields, old hedgerows, ash trees, heathland and woods alternate. The unspoiled character of this area and the almost old-fashioned tranquility make the Reestdal a true walking paradise. The old thatched farms fit perfectly into the decor.
Hoogeveen Canal
The route also takes you along the banks of the Hoogeveense Vaart for a while. Here too you will experience the refreshing Drenthe peace.
