Tour of Havixhorst and Reestdal near Meppel

Around Meppel, there are many cycling gems waiting for you. This route takes you through the Reestdal, among other things. The valley around the meandering Reestbeek is wonderful for cycling. You cycle through a landscape where hayfields, old hedgerows, ash trees, heathland and forest alternate. A little later you cycle over the Gemeenteweg through the part of Staphorst that enjoys a protected village view. Here you see one monumental farm after another of the Staphorst type. Thatched and usually with doors and shutters painted in the authentic colour green. At De Wijk you will discover Kasteel De Havixhorst, just before your starting point, a nice place to get off and enjoy the atmosphere.
