Naarden is perfect for a day of walking. Many monumental buildings can be admired in the fortified town itself. And in the countryside you walk through some beautiful nature reserves.
Fortress Roundabout
It will take you little effort to soak up the historic atmosphere in Naarden. You will see, among other things, the Sint-Vituskerk: the fifteenth-century tower is the oldest part of this building. Behind the choir is the Town Hall, built in 1601, a fine example of the Dutch Renaissance style. Just outside Naarden you walk to Fort Ronduit, a fortification from 1875 that is part of the New Dutch Waterline.
Fortress Naarden
Just outside Naarden you have a beautiful view of the unique star shape of the Naarden fortress, one of the best preserved in Europe. The route makes a loop through the residential areas and quiet forests just outside Naarden. You also come across two heaths. What a nice contrast to the first part of the route.
