A wonderful round of Swalmen

You can make beautiful cycling trips through a varied and natural landscape around Swalmen in Central Limburg. You will also pass through historic church villages such as Beesel and Reuver.

Gray Bear
Around Boukoul you drive through a mosaic of nature reserves and grasslands. You pass Zuidewijk Spick, a castle farm from the seventeenth century. Part of Asselt is a protected village view. You will see characteristic nineteenth-century farms and the Sint-Dionysiuskerk, located on a church hill, whose tower dates from 1515. On the banks of the Maas you pass the Grauwe Beer, a flour mill that stood in Zaandam from 1614 to 1891.

Old Ronkenstein
In Beesel you will pass Castle Nieuwenbroeck, which dates from 1560. Along the Maas it is wonderfully carefree cycling along grasslands and flood plains. You drive through Ronkenstein, which enjoys a protected village view due to its eighteenth-century appearance. A little later you cycle over the beautiful Prinsendijk that forms the German-Dutch border. What a view!
