Cycling along the Lek in the Alblasserwaard

Villages in the polders
Krimpen aan de Lek is the starting point of this route. In the south of this village you will find several historical houses. Some houses on the dike are even more than 200 years old. From here you cycle to Nieuw-Lekkerland, where you cross the Lek with a ferry. On the edge of Nieuw-Lekkerland you will find the De Regt corn mill. This mill was built here in 1808 and in 2010 the mill was completely restored. Then you cycle on to Noordeloos through the polders. You will pass Bleskensgraaf and Giessenburg, among other places.

Maria Johanna Hoeve
In the area of Noordeloos you can take a break at the Maria Johanna Hoeve. In the restaurant of this farm you can enjoy a cup of coffee, lunch or dinner. Then it is time to get back on your bike. You cycle back towards Nieuw-Lekkerland along the Lek and there you cross the river again to Krimpen aan de Lek. From here you can also follow route 534933.

Centuries-old corn mills
On the edge of Bleskensgraaf you can admire the De Vriendschap mill from 1890. This mill was built here as a replacement for the hollow post mill that was built here in 1680. Until 1971 the mill operated on a commercial basis. Nowadays the mill only operates on a voluntary basis. You will also pass the De Liefde mill on the banks of the Lek from 1893. This mill also still operates on a voluntary basis.
