Description
Between Kruiningen and Waarde you can enjoy a lovely walk through the polders. This route takes you through this area and over the dike along the coast between these two places. Get a breath of fresh air at the edge of the sea and breathe in the typical salty air that hangs here. Then you feel completely refreshed.
The Old Mill
The starting point of this route is at a parking lot in Kruiningen. Park your car here and get on the road quickly. Right at the start of the route you walk past the Oude Molen in Kruiningen. This mill was built here in 1801 and until 1953 the mill remained in operation on wind power. The mill was completely restored in 1986 and 1992. The mill is still regularly operated by a volunteer miller today. You then walk through the polders to Waarde past the windmill De Hoed.

In 1963 the mill was restored, but in the following decades the mill fell into disrepair again. In 1991 the mill was moved to Waarde and completely refurbished. Today, grain is still ground on a voluntary basis with the mill.
