Explore the Sallandse Heuvelrug from Nijverdal

You can take wonderful long bike rides in De Sallandse Heuvelrug National Park. The park is one of the largest contiguous nature reserves in Overijssel. Enjoying the natural beauty is an ideal way to relax. This route runs from the heart of Nijverdal straight through the nature reserve. You drive past vast heathlands and through gently rolling forests. You will see different types of trees here, such as Scots pine, larch, birch, oak and beech. Where the deciduous forest has an open character, you will also see shrubs such as listening berries. In between you drive through Hellendoorn. This is a nice village on the edge of the Hellendoornse Berg, a 40 meter high hill. Back in Nijverdal you can enjoy a delicious lunch at Grand Café Toi Toi.
