Along the water in Anna Paulowna

Polders, ditches and mills
From the starting point of this route you walk to the edge of the polder. You walk a bit along the Amstelmeer and then you walk along the water to Wieringerwaard. You will pass the small lake Pishoek that is located between the polders. Then you walk further to the center of Anna Paulowna. Just before you cross the water of the Lage Oude Veer you will pass the Leonide mill. This windmill was built here in 2002 as a residential house. The mill has never had a mill function, although the mill does look like a traditional sawmill. From the center of Anna Paulowna you walk further to the village of Van Ewijcksluis.

From Ewijcksluis
Van Ewijcksluis is located on the edge of the Wadden Sea and the Amstelmeer. The village originated around a lock between the Lage Oude Veer and the former Amsteldiep. Nowadays you will find several locks and a pumping station. Between this village and the Amstelmeer you will find the nature reserve'de verzakking\\\'. This area is named after the soft ground and all the subsidence that occurs in this area as a result.
