The Eemmeer is a 1340 hectare peripheral lake between Utrecht, Flevoland and North Holland. Spakenburg is known for its traditional costumes.

The history of Spakenburg
Spakenburg had about 200 fishing ships around the year 1890. In 1886 a second harbor was even opened to accommodate all these ships. That boom came to an abrupt halt when the Zuiderzee was closed in 1932. After the Second World War, Flevoland was also reclaimed and the function of Spakenburg disappeared completely. Nowadays Spakenburg only has about 30 boats.
