A varied tour around Veenendaal

After a cup of coffee at the Wapen van Elst, you get on your bike. In the Veenendaal region, you cycle a long way through the forests and along a beautiful heathland of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. You also pass the Poorthuis Ruiterberg, a country estate in the middle of the Kaapse Bossen. This country house from 1950 is worth seeing, but the geometrically designed garden around it is even more impressive. Then you cycle on to Wijk bij Duurstede. In Roman times, there was already a Roman settlement here and in the early Middle Ages, Wijk bij Duurstede was an important trading post. Around 1300, Wijk bij Duurstede was granted city rights. In the center, you will find many more sights. Via an old tobacco plantation, Plantage Willem III, you cycle back to your starting point.
