Description
This route takes you through the floodplains of the Maas around Cuijk. Along the way you cycle through the beautiful nature reserve around the Kraaijenbergse Plassen and over the banks of the Maas on the edge of Cuijk. You will find many special sights in this area.
Along the Kraaijenbergse Plassen to Cuijk
The first village you visit on this route is Beers. From here you cycle along the Kraaijenbergse Plassen to Linden. These ponds were once a small offshoot of the Meuse. Since then, the lakes have become much larger due to sand extraction and today you will find many beaches and marinas there. When you cycle here you can enjoy a wonderful view over the lakes. Water sports enthusiasts can regularly be found on the lakes. Then you cycle along the edge of the Maas to Cuijk. Here you can take a look at the Ceuclum Museum where you can view excavations from antiquity. You will also find a local garden, a sculpture garden, the Martinus Church with a carillon and much more.
Admire windmills along the water
You will find the Linden mill between Katwijk and Linden. Officially, this mill has no name, but popularly it is called the mill'de Lange Linden\\\'. The mill was built in 1835 and in 1869 the mill was moved to its current location on a square house. A little further on you cycle past the Jan van Cuijk mill in Cuijk. This flour mill dates from 1868 and the mill still grinds.
