Walk through Baarle-Nassau and Baarle-Hertog

Baarle-Nassau and Baarle-Hertog form a unique community. Here, you'll find 30 crisscrossing sections of Belgium and the Netherlands. In some places, the border simply runs through houses and gardens. This walking route will allow you to explore this unique village at your leisure. The enclave boundaries are made visible using special paving stones, aluminum plates in the road surface, and the national tricolor on the house number plates. Fun fact: Belgian homes get their electricity from Belgium. The power is still supplied via overhead low-voltage cables. Along your route, you'll also find some beautiful old buildings, such as the former town hall and the St. Remigius Church from 1640. The last section of the route takes you past meadows and through forests back to Gasterij de Grenshoeve. Time for a cozy terrace!
