Walking route outside Baarle-Nassau area

In the countryside surrounding Baarle-Nassau, you can enjoy a wonderfully peaceful walk through the Belgian-Dutch border region. You'll walk through a mix of forests, expansive meadows, and fields. Much of the route is on unpaved paths and roads, so make sure you wear sturdy shoes. And bring some provisions, as you won't pass through a village along the way! At junction 31, you cross the Elektriekbaan (Electric Railway). Until 1982, this railway carried the overhead low-voltage cables that supplied the Baarle-Hertog enclave with electricity from Belgium. At junctions 20 and 22, you'll encounter two reminders of the "Death Wire" (Death Wire): a kind of Iron Curtain from the First World War. Finally, you'll pass through the Manke Goren (Manke Goren), a wetland nature reserve. The route ends with a drink at Gasterij de Grenshoeve (Gasterij de Grenshoeve).
