Walking route Het Marissen and Pey

This walking route takes you through the countryside surrounding Echt, the narrowest part of Limburg and the Netherlands. First, you enter Het Marissen, a nature reserve situated on a former dry drifting dune. Here you'll find a mosaic of meadows, fields, and hedgerows. Much of Het Marissen consists of forests with Scots pines and various deciduous species. Some plots are hundreds of years old. What makes this route particularly interesting is the tranquility of this area. Ideal for a moment of relaxation. Finally, you'll walk through Pey, a small church village that has grown adjacent to Echt. The village church is a neo-Gothic cruciform basilica from 1857, designed by Pierre Cuypers. At Cafe 't Hingen, you can enjoy a well-deserved coffee and a slice of authentic Limburg pie on the terrace.
