Description
The area of the Langbroekerwetering is sandwiched between the Utrechtse Heuvelrug and the Lek. After the damming of the Kromme Rijn near Wijk bij Duurstede in 1122, the marshland was reclaimed by order of the bishop of Utrecht. The Langbroekerwetering served as a reclamation base. Nobles and wealthy farmers settled in the basin of the Kromme Rijn. The varied cycling tour connects the river landscape along the Lek with the lush Lustwarande. You start in Werkhoven.
