Texel is mainly known for the beautiful dunes that you will find there. This route takes you through the National Park Dunes of Texel with wet dune valleys, dry dunes, forests, moors, salt marshes and a beautiful wide beach. Are you ready for a few hours of fresh air?
Straight through the dunes
The entry point for this route is in Den Burg. From here you cycle through the extensive polders of Texel to the dune area. De Koog is located in the middle of the dunes, one of the oldest villages on Texel. This seaside resort is very popular with tourists and in summer it can get crowded. That is not surprising, because from the village you are on the beach in no time. De Koog used to be a fishing village, but after a few very heavy storms the fishermen left the village. In De Koog you will find several cafes where you can enjoy a drink.
