By bike from Lienden to Wijk bij Duurstede

From Lienden you drive into the Betuwe. Fruit orchards, grassy fields and tranquility: it is wonderful to cycle here. You cycle along a leafy path along the Amsterdam-Rhine Canal. This waterway connects the port of Amsterdam with the German Ruhr area and is the busiest canal in the world. Near Rijswijk, this canal crosses the Nederrijn. You cross the water here with a ferry to Wijk bij Duurstede. In this beautiful old town you can take a well-deserved break at De Veldpoort Eten en Drinken. You then continue cycling along the floodplains of the Nederrijn. You look out over bird-rich grasslands and old farms. You also pass Amerongen Castle. Cycle into the old village center of Amerongen to taste the historic atmosphere before you drive back to Lienden.
