From the starting point of this route in Hakkelaarsbrug you cycle to Muiderberg and then to the fortified city of Muiden. In Muiden you can view fortifications from the 15th and 16th centuries that have been preserved. Then you cycle on to Abcoude via Weesp, where you can get off at Ons Backhuys. Along the way you will pass the 't Haantje mill from 1828 and the Oostzijdse Mill from 1874. Then you can take a look at the Fort at Abcoude, the oldest land fort of the Defense Line of Amsterdam. This fort was built between 1884 and 1887 as protection against enemies. Nowadays the fort is open regularly, so be sure to take a look with a guide. You will find Loenersloot Castle near the village of Loenersloot. The first castle tower was built here in 1250.
