At De Wellsche Hut you can enjoy a coffee with Limburgse vlaai before you set off. The rolling landscape in the Maasduinen National Park is a remnant of the last ice age. People planted trees here to protect the surrounding agricultural areas against the drifting sand. You now mainly walk between Scots pines and larchs. Their wood was used in mining from the nineteenth century. As you walk across the Bergerheide, you might spot the flock of sheep grazing in this national park. Further on you walk quite a bit along the wooded banks of the Reindersmeer, a lake that was created by gravel extraction. You can grab a bench here to enjoy the tranquility and the beautiful view over the rippling water.
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
