Cycling around Geldermalsen and Beesd

Around the Gelderse Beesd you cycle through a vast and rural area full of peace and space. First you explore the Heerlijkheid Mariënwaerdt. This estate of over 900 hectares has been in the hands of the same family since 1734. Here you drive through a mosaic of fields, meadows, forests, avenues and willows. Further on you cycle along the Linge, a name that means 'the long water' in Old Dutch. There are some beautiful villages on the shore, such as Tricht. On the other side of the river you pass some old farms and the Noordenhoek Estate. The current country house dates from 1898, its predecessor was a castle from 1300. Further on is De Vlinder, a flour mill from 1913. In Beesd you cycle through the protected villagescape. The route ends at Camping BetuweStrand Recreatie.
