Anyone who likes to take a long walk through nature will enjoy this route. You can walk straight from the edge of Bergen into the forests and dunes. Take some provisions with you for the road, because you won't find many catering establishments.
Dutch dune
The Dutch dunes along the North Sea are among the most beautiful in the world. You can also enjoy this beautiful Dutch natural gem on this route. You walk through quiet dune forests, along heathlands and through drifting dunes. The landscape occasionally undulates, but with so much beauty around you it will hardly take any effort to progress along the shell path. In the lee it can be wonderfully quiet, you only hear the wind and some birds. This is the way walking is meant to be.
Bergen aan Zee
You walk along the edge of Bergen aan Zee, the only town on your route. On the Verspyckweg you pass the monumental Zeehuis, a former recovery center for children that originally dates from 1908. You need a dune map for part of the route. This is available at Duinvermaak, a cozy restaurant where you can park for free and refuel after your walk.
