Description
On the Lek you will find beautiful Dutch views. A polder that is partly below sea level, dikes on which centuries-old farms are located and the Kinderdijkse Mills: you can experience it all with this beautiful cycling route.
Beautiful Krimpenerwaard
You cycle through the watery forests above Krimpen aan de Lek and through the Loetbos, a forty-year-old forest on the river De Loet. Part of the forest is a quiet area. In the polder you see many meadows that are separated by straight ditches. A little later you drive over the dike along the Lek. It is wonderful to cycle here with panoramic views and (especially on the Opperduit) some beautiful centuries-old farms.
Nieuw-Lekkerland
From Lekkerkerk you can cross the Lek by ferry to Nieuw-Lekkerkand. On the Lekdijk you cycle past De Regt, a flour mill from 1808. Because the mill is half built in the Lekdijk, it is both a ground sailor and a scaffolding mill. From the Lekdijk you also have a beautiful view of the world-famous Kinderdijkse Mills, the mill corridors that are on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
