Walking through Neeritter, Ittervoort and Thorn

Nature reserve Vijverbroek
You start your walk in Neeritter. From here you walk to Ittervoort and then head to Thorn. The center of Thorn consists of historic white houses and that immediately explains why it is called'the white village\\\'. A beautiful sight to see, before you enter the nature reserve Vijverbroek. This is a beautiful marshland on the border of the Netherlands and Belgium. Nature here consists of marsh forests, poplar forests and damp grasslands. You can walk here wonderfully quietly and enjoy nature. If the weather is rainy, it is best to put on boots. It can get quite muddy here. The grasslands in this area are a true paradise for silver herons and various types of butterflies.

Brasserie 't Pastorieke
At the end of the route you will end up in Neeritter again. Plop down there at Brasserie't Pastorieke to rest and enjoy a cup of coffee with something tasty or an extensive high tea. From the rectory you can also follow cycle route 151233.

The white houses in Thorn
The white houses in Thorn give the village an authentic atmosphere. The characteristic white colour dates back to the time of the French rule, around 1794. In this year, the French introduced a tax based on the size of the windows of houses. The poor population often could not afford this and therefore they bricked up their windows. To cover up the traces of this, they then painted their houses white.
