Cycling through three provinces from Bakkeveen

The starting point of this route is in Bakkeveen. From here you cycle to Zevenhuizen on the edge of Friesland and then cycle further to Roden. Along the way you can enjoy peaceful open landscapes where you will hardly encounter anyone. In the esdorp Roden you can take a break at Hotel Café Restaurant Onder de Linden. Enjoy a cup of coffee, a tasty lunch or dinner here to replenish your energy supply. After that, the second part of this trip should be no problem at all. Get back on your bike and cycle back to Bakkeveen via Steenbergen and Haulerwijk. The last part of the route runs through a beautiful forest area.

The Mensingebos
Near Roden you cycle through the Mensingebos. This 175 hectare forest area is part of the Mensinge estate. These forests were created on the former heathlands in this area. The oldest forests in this area date from 1790, but you will also find younger forests from the early 20th century. You will mainly find many Scots pines and oaks here.
