Weesp
In the Vechtstreek you will also be amazed: you will see old mills, monumental farms and mansions. One village is even more beautiful than the other. Cycling along the water you will enjoy the natural beauty and the silence for miles. In the old fortified town of Weesp there is a lot of cultural history to admire.
The Gein
Along the course of the Gein river you cycle into a landscape of green meadows with grazing cows, dikes lined with pollard willows and elongated plots with old farms. You pass the Oostzijdse Molen dating from 1874, one of Mondriaan's beloved painting objects. In Abcoude you will see, among other things, the Wilhelmina Bridge over the Gein, a kwakel (pedestrian bridge) from 1908. In the countryside you follow the meandering course of De Winkel to the Botshol nature reserve.
