Cycling through the woods near Amerongen and Leersum

You start at CUBE Store Leersum. This route takes you up the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. And about. A route with climbs, beautiful forests, beautiful views over the polder and a lot of cultural history. In short: a long day of enjoyment. A large part of this route runs through the Amerongse Bos, one of the oldest forests on the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. At Elst you cross the Lower Rhine with the ferry (note the sailing times before you leave). The contrast between the floodplains and the forested ridge is a beautiful difference to see. What a wonderful area to explore by bike! Your last stop is Amerongen Castle: the most beautiful Dutch castle from the Golden Age thanks to the original state of the Huys, the gardens and the collection.
